Jurgen Klopp has been charged for a pitch invasion in the Merseyside derby.
The Liverpool manager ran onto the turf in the 96th minute of Sunday’s 232nd meeting with Everton after Divock Origi’s late goal sealed victory for the hosts.
Klopp made a beeline for Reds goalkeeper Alisson in the celebration and later admitted that he had apologised to Blues counterpart Marco Silva for his behaviour.
But the on-field encroachment now faces a Football Association misconduct from charge, which could lead to a fine or touchline suspension depending on the severity.
An FA statement read: “Jurgen Klopp has been charged with misconduct relating to his behaviour in the 96th minute of the game between Liverpool and Everton yesterday.
“He has until 6pm on 6 December 2018 to respond to the charge.”
It is understood Klopp will accept the charge from English football’s governing body.
Daniel Sturridge, meanwhile, has been granted an extended deadline to respond to his own FA charge of breaching betting regulations.
Sturridge was initially given until 6pm on November 20 to answer the charge but the striker’s representatives sought to requested additional time.
An independent chairman of the FA’s Regulatory Commission has now granted the 29-year-old until 6pm on February 11, 2019 to submit his response.
