Plans to host various sporting events at Anfield Stadium have been rejected.
Council bosses turned down the proposal by Liverpool FC on Tuesday.
The Premier League club had hoped to Anfield would welcome rugby league, rugby union and other sports outside of the traditional football season.
But Liverpool City Council’s planning committee refused to approve the plans for events between mid-May and the end of June due to residents’ concerns.
Issues raised ranged from parking, noise and anti-social behaviour.
Several councillors spoke out against LFC’s proposal, including Ian Byrne, Adele Dowling and Billy Marrat.
A second application to hold up to 10 non-sporting events, such as music concerts, at the 54,000 capacity stadium has been deferred until a later date.
