Two people have died following a serious road traffic accident on the East Lancs road.
Both lanes were closed yesterday afternoon between Catchdale Lane and The Copper Pot whilst emergency services were on the scene.
Police were called at around 2.40pm yesterday to reports of a serious accident between a black Ford Fiesta and a Volkswagen Golf.
Merseyside Police have now confirmed that the two occupants of the Ford Fiesta were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
