Jurgen Klopp has praised the support shown to Loris Karius in Liverpool’s friendly with Torino.
Karius made his first appearance at Anfield since a blundering display in the Champions League final during Tuesday’s 3-1 win over the Serie A side.
The goalkeeper’s struggles from last season’s showpiece continued into pre-season with a string of errors, most notably in conceding against Tranmere.
Alisson’s arrival this summer has also seen Karius demoted from first-choice in the Reds’ pecking order.
But Klopp is buoyed by the warm welcome that the German stopper received from the Anfield crowd during an outing as a late second-half substitute.
He said: “I was not surprised to be honest.
“But as a human being I was hoping for it, that it would be like this. I loved it.
“Is it possible being different in a really hard world? Yes, I think it is possible.
“We showed tonight a really nice face and I liked it. It helps not only Loris, it helps Alisson as well, that you can see this is a very special place.
“It was a really big gesture.”
