A fan zone will be set up in Liverpool to screen England’s World Cup semi-final.
Council bosses confirmed that a large-screen area in the Pier Head is set to show the crucial game for Gareth Southgate’s side against Croatia on July 11.
The city previously showed live World Cup matches for the 2006 tournament on the BBC’s big screen in Clayton Square, which was dismantled in 2015.
Should the national side reach the final just four days later, a second viewing and fan zone area has been provisionally scheduled for Sefton Park.
England reached their first World Cup semi-final since 1990 with a 2-0 win over Sweden last Saturday and are heading for a first final in over 50 years.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s heroics ensured the Three Lions booked a place in the quarter final with a penalty shoot-out win over Colombia.
Liverpool band The Lightning Seeds also scored a new UK no.1 as ‘Three Lions’ re-entered the charts on the back of England’s World Cup success.
Tickets will be available from 6pm on Monday from ticketquarter.co.uk and are subject to a £1 admin fee.
Fans will be searched on entry, no alcohol can be taken inside the event and only sealed plastic bottles of water will be permitted.
Alcohol can be purchased on site by over 18s where it will be served in plastic bottles and cups and there will be concessions selling food. Temporary toilet facilities will also be installed.
The Pier Head fan zone will open from 4pm until the end of the game.
