Speke’s Marks and Spencer store is set to be closed down.
The high street giant have announced on Tuesday its plans to withdraw 100 outlets, including the one at the New Mersey Retail Park, by 2020.
M&S recently two new branches in Liverpool at Queens Drive and the newly rebuild Edge Lane retail park, which opened at the end of last year.
Retail bosses confirmed that the Foodhall arm of their company will remain open in Speke despite the closure of the clothing-based store.
Pete Swallow, head of region for Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales at Marks & Spencer, said: “The proposal to close our clothing store at New Mersey Speke has been a difficult decision.
“Over the coming weeks we will be speaking with each colleague individually to discuss the proposal and what is right for them.
“We remain committed to the region with a number of stores across Liverpool including our flagship Church Street store, Queens Drive, Edge Lane and our New Mersey Shopping Park Foodhall which will offer our popular M&S.com collect in store service.”
M&S have already confirmed plans to close down its Birkenhead store.
