Crowds turn out for Alfie Evans’ final farewell

Crowds of people lined the streets of Liverpool for Alfie Evans’ funeral.

The toddler lost his battle with a generative brain condition on April 28 after his case became the subject of a High Court battle over his life support.

Alfie’s parents Tom Evans and Kate James staged numerous legal fights in effort to prolong their son’s care away from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Mourners and well-wishers gathered outside Goodison Park on Monday as the 23-month-old’s coffin was driven past the stadium after a private service.

Flowers were thrown as the procession made its way down Walton Lane with floral tributes of ‘warrior’ and ‘our hero’ adorning the roof of the hearse.
