Steven Gerrard has confirmed ‘positive talks’ about becoming Rangers’ new manager.
Gerrard is the preferred candidate of the Scottish Premiership club as they bid to install a permanent successor to Pedro Caixinha, who was sacked in October.
Caretaker manager Graeme Murty left Ibrox in the wake of last weekend’s 5-0 mauling by Celtic, which saw their local rivals crowned league champions.
Speaking as a pundit on BT Sport, Liverpool academy coach Gerrard, 37, revealed further discussions are planned for Thursday about the Rangers job.
He said: “The rumours are true, I have had initial talks.
“I have had positive talks. I’ll pick them up on Thursday and we will see if we can progress it.
“We will see.”
