Jurgen Klopp admits he is ‘really proud’ of how Roberto Firmino handled accusations of racism made against him.
The Football Association ruled that the Liverpool striker had no case to answer following an allegation made during his side’s FA Cup win over Everton.
Firmino was involved in an on-field spat with Mason Holgate in which the Blues defender claimed that a ‘discriminatory term’ was used by the Brazilian.
But the FA’s investigation found no evidence for disciplinary proceedings against the Reds striker, who Klopp has hailed for his behaviour during the process.
He said: “It was a long time (between the incident and the FA statement).
“I’m really proud of Roberto and how he dealt with it. We were sure from the first second there was nothing to be afraid of. I am happy that’s confirmed now.
“We all take it really seriously. Racism is obviously still in this world. It’s something we need to think about and be careful with.
“But if there’s nothing we need to sort it as well. All good now, let’s carry on.”
