Merseyside Police detectives investigating a firearms incident which occurred in December have arrested three men in the Toxteth area.
Shortly before 7am on Thursday, three firearms warrants were executed on Gordale Close, Corn Street and Micawber Close.
A 28-year-old man, a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old man all from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm without a certificate. All three have been taken to a police station for questioning by detectives.
The arrests relate to a firearms incident in the Smithdown area on 4 December 2017, for which three men have already been charged.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Baker said: “We know the harm that firearms can cause on our streets and so any information from the public is greatly received. Guns and those who use them have no place in our communities and our communities should not be forced to live in fear.
“We are dedicated to pursuing individuals linked to serious and organised crime and the success of this morning’s warrants is extremely satisfying. Removing these individuals from our communities is a priority for the whole force.
“We continue to appeal to anyone who has any information about gun crime or thinks they know where guns are being stored, to please contact the Merseyside Police gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600 or speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
