Liverpool Cathedral to close its doors for two weeks

Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral will be closing its main entrance for two weeks to allow for repairs to the roof.

The work is part of the cathedral’s continued investment in the fabric of the Grade 1 listed cathedral for the people of Liverpool and the wider region to enjoy.

The cathedral are using money that they received from the WW1 Centenary Fund to invest in the cathedral roof in order to prevent the concrete in it from damage.

The closure will mean that on Monday 29th January, Friday February 2nd, Monday 5th February and Wednesday 7th February visitors will need to enter and exit via the Welsford Restaurant entrance.

For the rest of the fortnight visitors will be able to enter and exit via the Sir Giles Gilbert Scott Suite.

Visitors with a mobility issue will be able to use our accessible entrance and lift as normal. Our car park, the tower experience, shop and catering outlets will be open for business as usual.

Acting Dean Canon Myles Davies said “we apologise for the small amount of inconvenience this may cause. Maintaining a cathedral at the size and scale of Liverpool often throws up massive challenges and we have planned this work to cause the least possible inconvenience for visitors. By investing in our cathedral in this way we aim to make sure that we secure this pressure building for future generations.
