John Barnes has been accused of homophobia on Celebrity Big Brother.
The ex-Liverpool footballer came under fire for comments aimed at fellow housemate Shane Jenek as the pair appeared on the reality TV show.
In a discussion about sexual experimentation, Australian drag queen Shane had said: “Sometimes somebody can have a little taste of something that…”
But Barnes interjected, saying: “Kick them out of the club. Kick them out of the club.”
He added: “I’ll tell you why, because if anything happened in that room he’s out of the club.
“If anything happens in the room, Andrew’s out of the club. He’s not in my club if anything happens.”
Barnes also commented that men were uncomfortable being in a room with a gay man because they thought they wanted to have sex with them.
Speaking regarding the matter, the 54-year-old stated that he “knew” that the comments were wrong.
Twitter users took to the social media site to blast his comments with many users labelling him homophobic.
John Barnes saying it’s OK for him to be homophobic because he’s 54 while Neville Southall, at 59, is openly learning everything he can to help LGBT+ people. Absolutely ridiculous stance to take.

John Barnes says it’s ok being homophobic because that’s just how he was brought up.
Really helping football out aren’t in the fight against all kinds of abuse. Doesn’t matter as long as you’re brought up with it

Dissappointing seeing John Barnes, someone who has campaigned against racism use his age as an excuse for his homophobia. People would have used that same excuse to justify their racism against him.
