Cenk Tosun could make his Everton debut in Friday’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool.
A £27 million fee has been agreed between the Blues and Besiktas for the striker, just days after negotiations with the Turkish club appeared to have hit a snag.
Tosun is set to complete his move to Goodison Park in the coming days and could be a late inclusion in Sam Allardyce’s side for their trip to Anfield.
His arrival will bring an end to a long-running saga for Everton, who have sought to replace Romelu Lukaku since his move to Manchester United last summer.
The Turkey international’s current hit rate of 14 goals in 24 games this season offers hopes thathe can solve his new side’s well-documented goal-scoring issues.
Blues goalscoring problems, with them having managed just 25 goals in 22 league games this season.
And Allardyce is confident that the 26-year-old can bolster his side’s paltry return of 25 goals in 22 league games despite admitting there is a huge pressure on him.
He said: “Securing the player is the most important thing because it’s our biggest area or has been the club’s biggest area of concern.
“On his track record and his age and his ability hopefully it will be the case. He wants this move to happen; he’s clearly stated he wants to join us.
“His pedigree (has convinced me). The pedigree that he has, what he has shown, the age he is.
“We’re not got that many players in that elite block of age in our squad and I think that he will hopefully come to the club and show he’s good value for money.
“If we get it done and he’s successful in scoring goals it will be an exceptionally good deal. It’ll be down to him to prove us right.
“It’s the hardest window to work in and what we’re trying to do is cure one of the areas we feel is a problem.
“It’s a huge pressure on the lad and hopefully he can live with it. We can’t guarantee when you come from abroad you’ll hit the ground running.”
