Christmas has come early for Liverpool charity, Priority Youth Project, with the arrival of their brand new Smiley Bus, courtesy of the Steve Morgan Foundation.
Priority Youth Project works outside of school hours to engage young people not accessing youth provision into positive, divisionary, activities and encourages them to patriciate into informal education programmes, providing a safe environment for them to learn new skills, broaden their opportunities and support with employment.
The minibus will be used to transport young people to and from activities and courses such as rock climbing, horse care, angling, football, cookery courses, health workshops and first aid training.
Sarah Hughes, Manager of Priority Youth Project said, “Now we have our own minibus we can potentially double the activities and trips we provide to young people every year; giving them so much more support, things to do and places to go, providing a safe and friendly environment for them to learn and grow.”
“We had started fundraising for a minibus, but it would have been years before we could afford one like this. The Steve Morgan Foundation Smiley Bus is the best Christmas present we could of wished for, the young people and staff team are absolutely made up!” she added.
Jane Harris, Administrator of the Steve Morgan Foundation, formally handed over the keys to delighted staff and young people. She said, “The Priority Youth Project provides a valuable service that helps both the users and the wider community. We are already funding a Community and Youth Worker and the Trustees recognized the additional benefit that having a Smiley Bus would give in making a difference and changing the lives of young people in the local area.”
