Newcastle are one of three Premier League clubs weighing up a move for Danny Ings.
Ings is currently working his way back from a long-term knee injury and has featured among the substitutes for Liverpool’s last three league matches.
But with Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke all ahead of him, the striker’s hopes of forcing his way into Jurgen Klopp’s plans appear slim.
The Reds are yet to make a decision on Ings’ future, with Klopp reportedly believing that he still has a place in his long-term plans at Anfield.
A loan option appears the most likely option, with the Chronicle claiming that Newcastle will be chief among those ready to offer regular first-team football.
Rafael Benitez is said to have identified the 25-year-old as an ideal addition, with his top-flight experience a key in helping the Magpies battle against relegation.
But both West Ham and West Brom are also understood to have expressed an interest in taking Ings on a short-term deal.
The former Burnley man enjoyed a solid start to his Liverpool career, scoring twice in his first six league outings before a knee injury ended his season.
Ings’ return to action last term proved similarly short-lived as a similar setback after just two EFL Cup games curtailed his chance to shine.
