Silva to speak with Watford about Everton move

Marco Silva has revealed that Watford will decide whether or not he can join Everton.

Silva is currently the forerunner to be named Ronald Koeman’s successor despite the Hornets rejecting an initial £8.5 million approach from the Blues.

The Portuguese coach’s situation bears striking similarities with that of Ronald Koeman before he left Southampton for the Goodison Park hot seat.

With no replacement for the Dutchman since he was deposed three weeks ago, the Everton hierarchy have turned to Silva as a viable successor.

He has refused to rule out the possibility leaving Watford, but insists the Vicarage Road board and owners the Pozzo family will determine his fate.

“What I can tell you about this situation is I look at this situation like for some players when they play well, or somebody that the coach wants from another club,” said Silva.

“For me now this is a case for the board and the owners to discuss the situation.

“For me it is a normal situation, I understand the question.”

The 40-year-old batted away further questions about his links with Everton ahead of his side’s Sunday afternoon showdown with West Ham.

Asked if he had been prevented from speaking about the Toffees, Silva added: “I don’t answer this question. I read many, many things in the week.

“I need to talk with my owner, my board and my players as well. I do my job normally during the week.

“I don’t want to talk about Everton. I am here to talk about the West Ham match.

“If you want to talk to me about Everton, it’s not the club where I work.”
