David Unsworth will continue as Everton manager for Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Since Ronald Koeman’s departure last month, the Blues’ under-23 coach has overseen the first-team’s preparations and matches in a caretaker capacity.
The Goodison Park hierarchy had been expected to make a decision on Koeman’s permanent successor in time for the encounter at Selhurst Park.
However Unsworth is set to continue as interim manager and will face the media on Friday to preview Everton’s game with the Eagles this weekend.
As the search for the Dutchman’s replacement remains ongoing, Watford boss Marco Silva is the current forerunner despite an £8.5 million offer being rejected.
There is no release clause in the Portuguese coach’s contract at Vicarage Road, which has seen Everton’s initial approach rebuffed by the Hertfordshire club.
Sam Allardyce ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Goodison hot seat, citing a lack of desire from the club in his decision to opt out of the race.
Everton are also understood to have targeted Diego Simeone but were issued a hands-off warning by Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo earlier this week.
