Allardyce denies Everton manager talks

Sam Allardyce has denied holding talks over becoming Everton manager.

Allardyce is currently the forerunner to be named as Ronald Koeman’s successor as the Blues seek to preserve their Premier League status.

The former England boss was understood to have met with Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri in London to discuss the vacant position.

But Allardyce, speaking to TalkSport, refuted suggestions that he had met with the Goodison Park hierarchy in the capital.

Asked whether there was truth in the Moshiri talks, he replied: “No, no, no.”

However the 63-year-old, who helped Crystal Palace and Sunderland avoid relegation in successive seasons, has refused to rule himself out of the role.

“It’s like everything else; if someone comes calling, there’s the opportunity to speak,” added Allardyce.

“There’s no doubt about that.”
