Man arrested over Liverpool bar upskirting

A man has been arrested over upskirting in Liverpool city centre bar.

Police were flagged down by door staff in Wood Street at around 1.10am on Thursday (July 16) after reports of a man using his phone to film females in a bar.

Officers detained a 33-year-old from the Liverpool area at the scene on suspicion of voyeurism in addition to breaching a risk of sexual harm order.

He is currently in custody while enquiries remain ongoing.

Chief Inspector Derek Riley said: “We take incidents of this nature very seriously and would encourage anyone witnessing such behaviour to report it to staff or police.

“Thanks to the quick work of the security staff and police officers the man was swiftly detained and the matter will now be thoroughly investigated.

“Tackling Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) is a priority for Merseyside Police, and it is essential we make our region a safer place for women and girls to live, work and visit, free from harassment, abuse and violence.”
