Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will not pressure Emre Can into signing a new deal.
Can will be allowed to negotiate a potential free transfer with overseas clubs in January ahead of his current Anfield contract expiring at the end of June.
Juventus have made no secret of their interest in the Germany international and could take advantage of the continued impasse over his Reds’ future.
A return to Can’s former club Bayern Munich is also touted, with their caretaker Jupp Heynckes hailing him when questioned on Friday.
But Klopp maintains that he has no problem with the midfielder’s situation.
He said: “There’s nothing new – that’s how it is.
“It’s our job to make this club as exciting as possible [for players]. He’s [still] allowed to sign a new contract in May.
“As long as Emre doesn’t give me one sign his mind is somewhere else, it’s fine.”
The Liverpool manager also remains calm about the threat of losing Can, a £10 million signing from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, for nothing next year.
“That’s part of football as well. If it happens like this then we cannot change that,” added Klopp.
“If there is a player out there with a contract ending next summer and he’s good, we would try to do the same.
“What do I do now? Say ‘it’s a big problem and say we need to sort this now’? To put pressure on the player or the club would make no sense.
“We have to respect when a contract ends. If a contract ends there are two sides who could have done things differently.
“Now we’ve already talked too much about it. It’s just a normal situation.”
