Jurgen Klopp believes it ‘made sense’ to not change his defence for Liverpool’s win over Huddersfield.
The Reds’ back line suffered extensive criticism in the wake of a 4-1 hammering by Tottenham, with Dejan Lovren substituted midway through the first half.
Lovren and Simon Mignolet were both singled out for scrutiny but named in the starting line-up for Saturday’s comprehensive 3-0 win over the Terriers.
Although the Croatia international was a late withdrawal due to a strain picked up during the warm-up, Klopp explained his thinking in sticking with the much-maligned back line.
He said: “I thought it made sense (to stick with the same defence as Tottenham).
“That’s the only reason why we did it. If something doesn’t work you can change everything or you stick to what you did before.
“I was convinced before the Tottenham game that these boys are the right ones and I will not change after one bad performance. I am not that confused.
“We had to change and you saw Ragnar [Klavan] needed time to adjust.”
