Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following an assault in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Tuesday 26th September.
At just before 5.30am a 19 year-old male was walking with a friend along Bold Street in the direction of Hanover Street when they were both assaulted in an unprovoked by a male close to Burger King. The 19 year-old suffered a broken jaw which required surgery.
The offender is then believed to have walked back up Bold Street before flagging a Hackney cab at the junction of Renshaw Street and Duke Street.
The male is described as black, aged about 18 to 20 years of age, approximately 5ft 6in to 5ft 10in in height and of stocky build.
Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man who they believe could assist with the investigation.
Detective Inspector Terry Davies said: “Even though this was early morning we believe there would still have been quite a few people around the city centre.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, or has any information which could assist the investigation, to contact us as soon as possible.
“We are particularly keen to trace the driver of a Hackney cab who we believed picked up a male fitting the description of the offender at the corner of Renshaw Street and Duke Street at around 6.25am that morning.”
