Ryan Giggs has admitted he is keen on becoming the new Everton manager.
The Blues parted with Ronald Koeman on Monday on the back of a poor run of form that has left them currently in the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Under-23 coaches David Unsworth and John Ebbrell have been placed in temporary charge for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup trip to Chelsea.
However Manchester United legend Giggs revealed that he is keen on a place in the Goodison Park hot seat as Koeman’s permanent successor.
Giggs enjoyed a brief spell in charge of the Old Trafford club in the wake of David Moyes’ departure in 2014 but has not worked in managment since.
The former Wales international, 43, has also opened himself to the prospect of joining Leicester City, who parted with Craig Shakespeare just last week.
“I think you look at those two teams, Leicester being champions two seasons ago, Everton being a fantastic club with a fantastic history, for me these are clubs I would be interested in,” he told Sky Sports.
“However, there are a lot of coaches out there who would be interested in those positions.
“I’ve said all along that I’d be open to clubs which share the ambitions of myself.
“I want to improve clubs and improve players, to enjoy working for them and for players to enjoy the challenge.
“There are clubs in the Premier League which would be good jobs but also in the Championship and League One.
“It’s more about the philosophy for me than the stature of the club.”
