Firearm and drugs seized from Everton house

A handgun was among items seized in a raid on an Everton house.

Officers executed a warrant at a property on Jenkinson Street at 11am on Monday and recovered the gun along with what is believed to be drugs, some machetes and swords as well as a BB gun.

The weapon has been recovered for forensic examination and an investigation is underway.

Superintendent Mark Wiggins said: “Information from our communities is absolutely vital in our fight against gun crime and this is one example of how we can target those involved in crime who think it is acceptable to possess a gun.

“We will act on information provided to us and I would ask anyone with information about those involved in gun crime, or who knows where weapons are being stored, please contact us so that we can make our streets safer.”

Anyone with information can contact the gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
