A yellow weather warning has been issued for the North West as Storm Ophelia makes it’s way towards the region.
The warning starts at 12 noon today and is in place until almost midnight.
The warning indicates that a spell of very windy weather is likely. BBC Weather is currently forecasting winds of almost 50mph in the Liverpool area from early this afternoon.
The weather warning issued indicates that Road, Rail, Air and Ferry services may be affected with longer journey times and cancellations expected. It is also possible that power cuts may occur and mobile phone coverage may be effected.
A yellow weather warning is issued when the weather may post a risk of injuries or to life. The warning indicates that damage to buildings may occur due to the high winds.
