Moshiri offers fresh backing to under-fire Koeman

Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has reaffirmed his support to Ronald Koeman.

Moshiri pledged his ‘total support’ to the Dutchman in the wake of the Blues’ poor start to the season which saw them win just one of their opening seven games.

But the British-Iranian billionaire offered a renewed backing to Koeman on a rare visit to Finch Farm to discuss plans for the club’s new waterfront stadium.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright accompanied Moshiri as part of a meeting centred around a move to a site located at the Bramley-Moore dock.

The pair also met with Koeman as he continues to face pressure from the Goodison Park fan base on the back of an unprecedented summer of spending.

Under the former Southampton manager, Everton spent over £140 million but find themselves hovering a place above the Premier League’s relegation zone.

Koeman vowed to turn around his side’s form ahead of Sunday’s trip to Brighton.

He said: “The most important focus is Sunday.

“After that we know we have Lyon at home (in the Europa League) but every Premier League is a tough one.

“It doesn’t matter about the name of the opponent. Everybody expects different results, a different position in the table.

“In terms of confidence, we are finding it difficult. But we know we can turn it around as the players are working so hard that they deserve different results.

“You need a little bit of luck, you need to score the goal from the first chance that you will create.

“The fastest way to change that situation is to do your job every day and be a professional and work hard and have a feeling of belief together.”
