Stagecoach have avoided a planned strike by its Liverpool staff this weekend.
Drivers and engineers had planned to stage a combined four days industrial action against the bus provider, beginning on Saturday, in a dispute over pay.
However the first two planned dates have been called off following meetings between transport bosses and union representatives on Thursday.
It means the scheduled action on October 14 and 19 has been shelved while the additional two dates on October 23 and 30 could now also be postponed.
The latter is dependent on the acceptance of Stagecoach’s latest wage offer.
Rob Jones, Stagecoach Merseyside’s managing director, said: “We have had constructive discussions with the union today and have made a revised offer which they are recommending is accepted by members.
“As a result the union have called off the strike action planned for 14 and 19 October and we are pleased to confirm that services will operate as normal for our customers on those days.”
Staff at Stagecoach’s rival Arriva are still due to strike over a three-day period.
