My Everton future is out of my hands, claims Koeman

Ronald Koeman says any decision on his Everton future is out of his hands.

Koeman saw his side lose a fourth Premier League game out of their opening seven on Sunday as the Blues succumbed to a 1-0 defeat by Burnley.

It means his side have now managed just two wins in all competitions all season and currently find themselves just two points outside of the relegation zone.

Unrest is growing in the stands at Goodison Park, with the pressure is firmly on the Dutchman to try and turn things around.

But Koeman insists that he ultimately has no bearing on the Everton hierarchy’s decision whether to retain or relinquish his services.

He said: “I don’t answer this type of question because it is not the business at this moment.

“I like what I saw from my team today in their commitment and the way they tried to get a better result. That’s the first thing to do in a difficult situation.

“It’s always about the money and it’s so easy in this situation to speak about money. We’ve got a lot of money and we invested some money.

“In my opinion it’s always about the difference in spending from transfers and it’s a negative.

“We signed a young goalkeeper, he’s doing well but will improve. We signed young players and we have a lot of young players in the squad, performing for Everton.

“That’s how we’d like to continue. Of course we need to improve in winning games, that’s no question.

“But that’s not in my hands and all I can do is try to get the best out of the players.

“If there is no commitment and aggression, that’s a reason to think about my future but what I saw today, I thank the players.

“I have experience and of course if you win, you life is different than if you lose.

“It’s not nice to get two weeks in an international break on the back of a defeat but that’s football. You have to accept it.

“Don’t accept to sit down and wait, I will do my job and try to do my best. The final stuff is not in my hands.”
