Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been named on the Golden Boy shortlist.
The teenage striker will go head-to-head with some of Europe’s biggest names to be crowned the continent’s best young player next month.
Calvert-Lewin’s role for England in their Under-20 World Cup final win helped earn a place on the 25-man list alongside the likes of PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.
Tom Davies was originally named on the provisional shortlist but the midfielder failed to make the final cut alongside his Blues teammate.
Since arriving from Sheffield United last summer, Calvert-Lewin has made 21 appearances and scored two goals at the start of his Goodison Park career.
He suffered an ankle injury in January which ruled him out of action for almost two months before returning in March’s win over West Brom.
Ronald Koeman rewarded Calvert-Lewin for an impressive debut campaign with a new five-year contract .
Everton forward Wayne Rooney was one of the earliest winners of the Golden Boy, founded by Italian newspaper Tuttosport in 2003.
Other previous holders include Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling.
