Liverpool are set to ring the changes for their Carabao Cup tie with Leicester City.
Tuesday’s encounter at the King Power Stadium will see Jurgen Klopp field an altered Reds line-up from the side that was held by Burnley last weekend.
Chief among the changes is expected to be Danny Ward making his first appearance for the club since a 3-1 defeat to Swansea City in May 2016.
The Wales international spent the previous season on loan with Huddersfield Town, where he helped the Yorkshire outfit win Premier League promotion.
Klopp adopted a rotation policy with his goalkeepers, with Simon Mignolet picked for league games while Loris Karius is first-choice in the Champions League.
And the Liverpool manager has confirmed that the pattern will continue with Ward in line to appear against the Foxes in the opening round of the cup.
“I would love to but I’m not sure the world is ready for such a crazy decision,” said Klopp.
“The third goalkeeper in one season without an injury – we can’t do it!
“No, of course Danny Ward will play tomorrow if nothing happens overnight.”
Other underused players this season are also set for a run-out in the third round tie, including Marko Grujic and summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
He added: “We have a lot of players who are actually in good shape but haven’t had match starts so far.
“For instance Marko Grujic made a big step in his development but no-one can see it yet. And so it’s really good to give him the opportunity. Still a young boy and stuff like this.
There are a few others [too]. It’s a fantastic opportunity now for Alex.
“Since he’s been here it’s been difficult to train on different things because it’s game after game after game.
“We sit together with him and the analysts to show him how we want him to play in this position or that position. it’s worked too but there’s no rush.
“Already on the weekend he came on in a difficult situation, there was pressure and we tried to do something without giving up too many opportunities.
“We took a lot of risk in this game and he was involved in it and did really well.”
