Liverpool John Lennon Airport had to be evacuated due to a ‘suspicious package’.
Police and the army were called to the Speke terminal at around 5.30pm on Tuesday following the discovery of the mystery object on the premises.
Travellers returning to LJLA were held on their flights while people jetting out were kept in a single part of the building while the incident was being dealt.
“Earlier this evening a suspicious package was found at the airport,” a LJLA statement confirmed.
“As a precautionary measure the terminal was evacuated and the Army Bomb Disposal Team were called to undertake further investigation.
“Following this, the area was declared safe and passengers are now returning to the terminal.
“Operations are resuming as normal, though there may be some disruption as a result.”
