West Brom are planning to meet Liverpool’s valuation for Mamadou Sakho.
Sakho remains out-of-favour since falling out with Jurgen Klopp as he was sent home from the Reds’ pre-season tour of America last summer.
The former France international spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Crystal Palace as his Anfield future remained ominous.
Liverpool have been holding out for a £30 million fee for Sakho, which West Brom are reportedly set to match before next week’s transfer deadline.
The Baggies had previously attempted to loan Sakho last summer but were turned down by the player as he aimed to fight for his Liverpool career.
But after failing to progress beyond a handful of appearances for the club’s under-23 side, the ex-Paris Saint-Germain captain agreed a move to Palace.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Tony Pulis will make a club-record bid for the 27-year-old to become the Baggies’ replacement for captain Jonny Evans.
Evans is currently the subject of interest from Manchester City, who are keen to land the centre-back ahead of the window closes on August 31.
City previously had an £18m offer rejected for the one-time Manchester United player.
