Liverpool FC owners make ‘definitive’ Coutinho statement

Liverpool’s owners have made a ‘definitive’ statement on their refusal to sell Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho continues to be touted for a move to Barcelona despite the Reds rejecting successive bids of £72 million and £90.2m in recent weeks.

Jurgen Klopp responded to the Catalans’ latest failed offer on Thursday, insisting that the Brazil international would not be allowed to leave at any price.

And owners Fenway Sports Group have re-emphasised that stance in a public statement on the club’s official website maintaining that Coutinho is not for sale.

“We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho,” read the statement.

“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”

Meanwhile four of Liverpool’s games in October and November have been moved for TV purposes.

Manchester United’s visit to Anfield on October 14 will now take place at 12.30pm with the fierce rivalry game being broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Sky are also set to screen the Reds’ first league trip to Wembley as they take on Tottenham, which is now scheduled for a 4pm kick-off on Sunday, October 22.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will encounter further changes on their travels as their game with West Ham is now a 5.30pm KO on Saturday, November 4.

Liverpool’s clash wth Chelsea at Anfield will also start at the same time on Saturday, November 25, with BT Sport showing both matches.
