Fresh appeal to find Walton mum’s killers

Police have made a new appeal into the death of a mum-of-three killed in her home.

Lucy Hargreaves was shot dead as she slept on the sofa when three men burst into the house in August 2005 before setting the property alight.

The young mother was just 22 when she was gunned down, with her two-year-old daughter and partner sleeping upstairs.

On the 12th anniversary of Lucy’s death, detectives have issued a renewed plea for the public’s help in tracing down those responsible for her murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: “Twelve years is a long time for a grieving family to live without any answers to who was responsible for Lucy’s death.

“Lucy would have been 34 this year but instead of celebrating with her children and her family they instead continue to mourn her tragic death.

“Imagine as a parent how you would feel if this was your daughter?

“We know that someone somewhere has the answers they are looking for and I would appeal for anyone who has any piece of information, however small, which could help the family get the closure they are looking for to come forward.

“After 12 years this remains one of the most brutal and disturbing crimes we have ever seen on Merseyside and we remain committed to finding the people responsible for Lucy’s death.

“I know over the years people move away and loyalties change and I would call on those people to now come forward with the information they have or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously.”

As part of the investigation detectives are keen to trace Kevin Parle as they believe he could have information which could assist with their enquiries.

It is thought Parle, now 37, may be living abroad and there is a European arrest warrant out for his arrest in relation to the death of 16 year-old Liam Kelly who was murdered in Dingle in June 2004.

He is described as white, 6ft 5in tall with a broad build, blue eyes, ginger hair and a 1″ scar on the left side of his head.

A number of images of what Kevin Parle may look like now have been produced.

Officers are also continuing their appeal for any information about a Gold Lexus registration NAD499.

The car was found burnt out shortly after the incident in Richard Kelly Drive, Clubmoor.

It is thought a number of males dumped the car before running in the direction of Normandale Road.

DCI Tivendale added: “Even after 12 years I want to reassure people that it is never too late to come forward with information.

“I believe that someone, somewhere knows who did this and I hope that they will finally have the courage to come forward.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the death of Lucy Hargreaves or the whereabouts of Kevin Parle, is asked to call 0800 230 0600 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
