Fiorentina have pulled out of the race to sign Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic.
Markovic is set to leave Anfield this summer after failing to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans since a £20 million move from Benfica in 2014.
The Serbia international spent the previous two seasons on loan with spells at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and more recently Hull City.
Ex-Hull manager Marco Silva remains keen on reuniting with Markovic in his new role at Watford but Fiorentina appeared firm favourites to land the Reds’ misfit.
However the Daily Mirror claim that the Serie A outfit have withdrawn their interest in the 23-year-old due to Liverpool’s valuation of the player.
Anfield chiefs are holding out for a £16 million deal to offload Markovic, a figure which Fiorentina are unwilling to meet and have called off plans to sign him.
In his only season in the Liverpool first-team, the attacker contributed three goals in 48 appearances for Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
