Liverpool are on the verge of securing Hull City defender Andy Robertson.
Robertson reappeared on the Reds’ radar after last summer’s pursuit of the left-back failed to materialise due to the Tigers’ impending Premier League season.
But Jurgen Klopp has now revived his interest to make the Scotland international Anfield’s second major summer signing.
Talks between both clubs are at an advanced stage over an £8 million deal that will see Robertson join Mohamed Salah as Liverpool’s latest recruits.
Klopp is keen to add an established left-back to his squad after soldiering through last season with midfielder James Milner deputising in the role.
Alberto Moreno fell out of favour with the Liverpool manager while Joe Gomez, who can also play in the role, is expected to spend next season out on loan.
Meanwhile Liverpool are hopeful of resolving Lucas Leiva’s future after accepting a £5m offer from Lazio for the veteran midfielder, who is in his final 12 months.
The Brazilian will not be involved in Friday’s pre-season friendly with Wigan as he prepares to decide on a move to Serie A after 10 years on Merseyside.
