Gunman blasts house in Speke shooting

A Speke house suffered significant damage after a gunman opened fire.

Police were called to the scene in Eastern Avenue at 4.30pm on Monday by a member of the public who reported hearing several loud bangs.

On arrival patrols found damage had been caused to windows on the front of the house, which was occupied at the time.

No-one was injured during the shooting but residents inside the house were left distressed.

The offender is believed to have left a dark-coloured car and had a brief exchange of words with a man inside the house before firing.

It believed that a shotgun was used before the car then left in the direction of Hale Road.

An area around the house has been cordoned off to allow a forensic search of the scene and detectives have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries in case anyone saw or heard anything significant.

Merseyside Police are currently treating the incident as a targeted attack.
