Steven Gerrard has unveiled his Liverpool under-18’s backroom staff.
The former Reds captain is entering his first permanent coaching job this summer after several months in a floating role at the club’s Academy.
Gerrard will be assisted by current under-15 coach Tom Culshaw, with goalkeeping coach Neil Edwards and analyst Scott Mason also on hand.
A familiar face from the 37-year’s Anfield career will also join as rehab fitness coach Jordan Millson, who worked with him for five years in the first-team setup.
“We made a plan at the end of last season, so everyone has a schedule for the first month and it’s all done,” said Gerrard.
“I am lucky because I have a backroom team that are very, very good and they’ve all helped me put it into place. I can’t wait for it.”
Gerrard is set to begin coaching the u18 squad in early July when the players return from their summer break to start pre-season training.
The ex-mdfielder remains the most notable graduate from Liverpool’s youth system and has fired a warning to those hoping to follow in his footsteps.
He added: “I think it’s changed – I think 10, 15 years ago, you could play for Liverpool’s first team if you were very good.
“You can’t do that anymore because the players that are there are world-class, so to move someone out of the way and become a regular, you’ve got to be world-class.
“You’ve got to be world-class every day; the values of our club will never change, so I am not going to come in and try and change any of the values.
“It’ll be more of the same, but trying to tell them that every single day you’ve got to be obsessed to play for Liverpool’s first team.”
