A Liverpool business leader is set to cycle from London to Paris in aid of a local-based charity.
Steve Hunt will set off from the English capital at the end of June on a four-day cycle to France to raise money for Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals.
The two hospitals’ NHS Trust charity ‘R Charity’ aims to raise £10 million to help their patients with world class healthcare and also look after their loved ones.
Hunt’s gruelling 280-mile trek will see him cycle through various and challenging terrains en-route to Paris, covering 70 miles a day.
Steve will be joined by his son Joe along the way when they set off on June 21 and plan to reach Paris on June 24.
He said: “R Charity is a charity/cause that is very close to my heart as they helped me when I faced some serious health issues a few years ago.
“It is an honour to be raising money with my son for such a fantastic new hospital.
“All of the hard work and training will all be worth it when I can hand over the cheque to R Charity next month.
“Training in the peak district and on the roads of Liverpool has really tested me, but I am raring to go and I can’t wait for the 21st June to come around now.
“Any charitable donations will be greatly received and I would just like to say a big thank you to those who have already pledged money through my Just Giving page.”
