The verdict is in and Trial By Jury has been summoned back to St George’s Hall this August.
Lovehistory will transform the Grade I listed building back to a courtroom, giving people a chance to be the jury for a court case of the past.
Jurors will be taken back in time and witness a grisly murder, where the full details of the tragedy will be acted out by the theatre group.
Along the way, a Sherlock Holmes-esque detective will be trying to solve the case, which will help the jury decide the fate of the prosecuted.
Back in April, audiences were taken back to 1863, to solve the murder of James Harrison. The defendant was sailor Jose Maria Alverez, who the members of the jury found not guilty of wilful murder.
Afterwards, the real verdict was revealed that Alverez was sentenced to hang. Proving that you have the chance to change a small piece of history.
Judy McClean, creative director of Lovehistory, said: “The first Trial By Jury event was hugely popular.
“The audience really engaged with the trial and there was a great sense of suspense and build up as all the details of the murder were laid out through our actors’ performance.
“What is so great and unique about this event, is that no 2 shows will ever be the same as the audience will always be different.
“We have decided on a case for the new trial, and although it will be kept top secret until the first performance, what I can say is that our audiences will have their work cut out for them – it’s a cracker of a case!”
Trial By Jury returns on August 16 and will run each day until August 18. Tickets are £16.50 each and available from ticketquarter.co.uk.
