Woman dies after being hit by lorry in Queens Drive

A woman has died after being hit by a lorry on Queens Drive.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 7pm on Wednesday to reports of a collision with the articulated vehicle.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene as a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

She passed away a short time later and her next of kin have been informed.

The Bootle-bound carriageway of Queens Drive was closed from the junction of East Prescot Road to Alder Road to allow an investigation to be carried out.

An investigation is underway and CCTV and house to house enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

Officers from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them on 0151 777 5747 or via 101.
