James Tomkins has slammed Marko Grujic for his ‘disgusting’ tackle on the Crystal Palace defender.
Grujic was cautioned for a challenge on Tomkins after making a late substitute appearance during Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to the Eagles at the end of April.
It was the midfielder’s first competitive action since November’s EFL Cup win over Leeds United despite being named as an unused substitute in four previous games.
Tomkins missed three games for Palace since the tackle by Grujic, returning in time to help his side pull clear of relegation with a 4-0 win over Hull City.
But the one-time West Ham player is still reeling from the incident at Anfield.
“The challenge was brushed under the carpet a bit too much,” he told the Croydon Advertiser.
“I don’t mind people being competitive, but I thought the challenge was disgusting. I managed to get away with it because it could’ve been a lot worse.
“I battled to try to be fit as quickly as I could, I couldn’t make Manchester City away last week, but managed to make it this week.
“I’m still getting pain, but it’s not about that, it was about getting the victory against Hull. I was always going to put my all in.”
