Woman ‘thrown to the floor’ in Wirral rape attempt

Police are hunting for a man in connection with an attempted rape in Wirral.

A woman was grabbed from behind by the unknown male and thrown to the floor during the incident in Arrow Park Road last Friday night (May 12).

The 19-year-old victim had been walking along the road close to the entrance of Arrowe Park Hospital, where she was encountered the alleged assailant

She managed to break free from the attack, which took place between 9.40pm and 9.55pm, and run along Arrow Park Road in the direction of The Stirrup pub.

Her attacker is described as a white man, in his 30s, approximately 5ft 10in to 5ft 11in tall, bald with a ‘plumpy’ nose.

He was wearing a dark coloured mismatched tracksuit top and tracksuit bottoms.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Arrowe Park Road at between 9.40pm and 9.55pm on Friday.

An investigation is currently underway and CCTV and forensic opportunities are being explored.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hampson said: “Arrowe Park Road is a busy road and a lot of traffic use it and the entrances in and out of the hospital.

“I would urge anyone who saw a man fitting the description or anyone acting suspiciously on Arrowe Park Road or near to the hospital to contact us.

“Thankfully the woman concerned was not injured but was left badly shaken by her ordeal and we want to find the person responsible.”
