Philippe Coutinho could move to a midfield role for Liverpool next season.
The playmaker has largely occupied a more attacking wide position at Anfield but was deployed further back during the club’s 2013/14 Premier League title bid.
With the Reds currently tracking the likes of Julian Brandt and Mohamed Salah ahead of a pivotal summer, Coutinho’s established position may be under threat.
But Jurgen Klopp admits that the Brazilian, who continues to attract interest from Barcelona, has the potential to drop back into a central berth.
He said: “Can we work on different things with Phil? Yes of course.
“He plays at the moment kind of wing ‘10’ but he can also play as a No 8.
“That is possible and maybe he will have more influence and we can involve another player on the wing.
“That would make us stronger for sure, having his creativity in the middle of the park. He would have to adapt to that.”
