Ruby Walsh ruled out of 2016 Grand National following Ladies’ Day fall

Ruby Walsh will not run in this year’s Grand National after suffering a fractured wrist on Ladies’ Day.

Walsh was scheduled to ride the national atop Sir Des Champs but a hairline fracture to the wrist has ruled him out.

Having won the Grand National on two previous occasions will not be able to make it a third until next years festival.

The Irish Jockey suffered two falls on Ladies Day, the first atop favourite Vautour and the second aboard Blood Cotil in the Topham Chase.

His second fall meant that he did not compete in the final two races of the day.

Nina Carberry has been announced as Walsh’s replacement to ride in the National aboard Sir Des Champs.
