A loaded revolver was seized at a Kensington home as part of a gun clampdown.
Police executed a warrant at the house in Adelaide Road at around 9.20am on Tuesday to discover the firearm in the bedroom of the property.
Armed officers attended and the firearm was seized for forensic examinations. A further three BB guns and other weapons were also recovered from the address.
A 16-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and ammunition and taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.

Detective Inspector Elaine Coulter said: “This significant recovery means less firearms and other weapons that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm on our streets.
“We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun and violent crime and will continue to take action to protect our communities from those intent on using such dangerous weapons.
“If anyone has any information about those involved in gun crime, or who knows where weapons are being stored, please contact us so that we can continue to make our streets safer.”
