Anthony Taylor confirmed as referee for Everton FC’s FA Cup semi-final

Anthony Taylor has been announced as the referee for Everton’s FA Cup semi-final against either West Ham or Manchester United.

Taylor, who hails from Wythenshawe in Greater Manchester, previously officiated over three Blues games this season, all of which ended in defeat; to Manchester City, Swansea City and the Hammers.

After last month’s 3-2 home defeat to Slaven Bilic’s side, the 37-year-old’s decision to send of Kevin Mirallas in the first-half in a decision that enraged Roberto Martinez.

Speaking after the defeat, the Everton manager said: “I don’t feel he is a referee who understands the game in a way that we want the game played.

“You want a referee who takes the backseat.”

Assistant referees Stuart Burt and John Brooks and fourth official Jon Moss complete the officiating team for the high-profile Wembley fixture on Saturday April 23rd.
