Ex-Liverpool bar worker murdered in Goa

A former Liverpool bar worker has been found murdered in India.

Danielle McLaughlin’s body was discovered close to tourists resorts in Canacona, Goa on Tuesday after attending a party on Palolem Beach the night before.

One person has been arrested in connection with the 28-year-old’s death while 15 others have been questioned, police in the country have confirmed.

The ex-John Moores University student had suffered injuries to her face and head.

Danielle, originally from County Donegal, worked at the Pump House pub in the city’s Albert Dock prior to travelling to India on a British-Irish passport.

“It has been confirmed that the woman travelled to India using a British passport,” the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

“The local British consulate have the lead responsibility in terms of dealings with the Indian authorities.

“The Irish Embassy is liaising closely with the British authorities and an Irish consular official is travelling from New Delhi to Goa.”
