Robert Elstone claims that Everton are close to finding a solution of funding a new stadium.
A search for the Blues’ future home has yet to deliver a breakthrough despite lengthy consultations with Liverpool City Council over potential locations.
The disused Bramley-Moore Dock remains the club’s preferred site with the venue potentially doubling up to host the Commonwealth Games in 2026.
Council-owned land at Stonebridge Cross, Croxteth is also in contention for a viable new stadium and was also examined by a joint delegation last October.

But Everton chief executive Elstone told Sky Sports: “We’re confident now that essentially we’re moving towards a solution for the problem that’s remained with us throughout this which is how we’re going to afford it.
“It’s a big, big investment [so] where’s the money going to come from to build it?
“There’s a lot of work gone into that. We’re getting very close we hope to solving that problem.”
