Five arrested following Tuebrook abduction

Five men have been arrested following an attempted abduction in Tuebrook.

Police detained the group in connection with the incident which saw a man attacked and then dragged away from a house in Montrose Road on January 4.

The victim, in his 30s, suffered leg and facial injuries before being forced into a Ranger Rover which was driven off in the direction of Knoclaide Road.

Five-and-a-half hours later, the man believed to be the victim attended hospital claiming he had been assaulted and driven around until he was left near Bootle Docks.

Detectives from Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 24-year-old man from Toxteth has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and kidnap.

He has been taken to a local police station where he will be interviewed.

Four other men were also been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding and kidnap and subsequently bailed pending further enquiries.

They include a 23-year-old of no fixed abode, a 27-year-old from Toxteth, a 25-year-old from Vauxhall and a 33-year-old man from Croxteth.
